Peterjon was purchased by the Limerick Steamship Company in 1951 and renamed Plassy.
She plied the seas around Ireland, ferrying cargo from one port to another. She would also call into Belfast and Liverpool from time to time.
On March 8 1960 she ran into difficulties in the South Sound between Inisheer and the Cliffs of Moher while transporting cargo from Fenit, County Kerry to Galway City.
